Safety

The Acura ADX has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The V60 Cross Country doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Acura ADX achieved a “Acceptable” rating - the second highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Volvo V60 Cross Country has not been tested.

Both the ADX and the V60 Cross Country have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors, available all wheel drive and around view monitors.

The Acura ADX achieved a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the 2025 model year. This recognition was based on its impressive performance in the small overlap frontal crash test, updated moderate overlap front crash test, updated side impact crash test, headlight evaluations, and pedestrian crash prevention testing. The V60 Cross Country has not yet been fully evaluated by the IIHS for 2025.

Warranty

Acura’s powertrain warranty covers the ADX 2 years and 20,000 miles longer than Volvo covers the V60 Cross Country. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the V60 Cross Country ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Acura vehicles are better in initial quality than Volvo vehicles. With 60 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Acura higher than Volvo.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2026 Auto Issue reports that Acura vehicles are more reliable than Volvo vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Acura 8 places higher in reliability than Volvo.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the ADX gets better mileage than the V60 Cross Country:

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Acura ADX uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended for maximum performance). The V60 Cross Country requires premium, which can cost on average about 84.9 cents more per gallon.

The ADX has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The V60 Cross Country doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Acura ADX higher (5 out of 10) than the Volvo V60 Cross Country (4). This means the ADX produces up to 5.2 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the V60 Cross Country every 15,000 miles.

Transmission

The ADX has a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT). With no “steps” between gears, it can keep the engine at the most efficient speed for fuel economy, or keep it at its peak horsepower indefinitely for maximum acceleration. The V60 Cross Country doesn’t offer a CVT.

Brakes and Stopping

The ADX stops shorter than the V60 Cross Country:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the ADX has larger standard tires than the V60 Cross Country (225/55R18 vs. 215/55R18).

The ADX has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The V60 Cross Country doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Suspension and Handling

The front and rear suspension of the ADX uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the V60 Cross Country, which uses transverse leafs springs in the rear. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

Chassis

The Acura ADX may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 400 to 650 pounds less than the Volvo V60 Cross Country.

The front grille of the ADX uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The V60 Cross Country doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The ADX uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The V60 Cross Country doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The ADX has 3.3 cubic feet more passenger volume than the V60 Cross Country (97.3 vs. 94).

The ADX has 1 inch more front headroom, .5 inches more front shoulder room, 2.5 inches more rear legroom and .7 inches more rear shoulder room than the V60 Cross Country.

Cargo Capacity

The ADX has a much larger cargo volume than the V60 Cross Country with its rear seat up (24.4 vs. 23.2 cubic feet).

Servicing Ease

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Acura service is better than Volvo. J.D. Power ranks Acura 6th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With a 25% lower rating, Volvo is ranked 23rd.

Ergonomics

The ADX A-Spec’s optional easy exit feature glides the driver’s seat back when the door is unlocked or the ignition is switched off, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The V60 Cross Country doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The ADX is equipped with both FM and AM stereo radios, offering access to more content and better coverage than the V60 Cross Country, which solely provides FM radio. With AM radio, you can enjoy a wider variety of stations featuring news, talk shows, sports commentary, native language programing, automated traffic guidance, and emergency broadcasts. AM waves travel further and penetrate buildings and obstacles more effectively than FM signals, especially at night. Having both FM and AM stereo radios the ADX offers a more comprehensive listening experience compared to only FM in the V60 Cross Country.

HD Radio boasts several benefits over conventional radio: superior sound quality with clearer and consistent FM broadcasts, CD-quality audio, and Multicast Channels offering up to four streams from a single station, adding programming choices. Cars like the ADX A-Spec optionally equipped with HD Radio provide an improved in-car entertainment experience. The V60 Cross Country, devoid of this technology, foregoes these benefits. Selecting the Acura ADX empowers drivers to enjoy a more immersive and enjoyable listening experience while on the go.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Acura ADX has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the V60 Cross Country.

Model Availability

The ADX is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The V60 Cross Country doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
